Photography Classes

The management team at Bradlaugh Fields and Barn are planning to launch a new activity for 11 to 17 year olds, based at the Stone Barn but making full use of 105 acres of wild parkland.

With resident Kestrels, Sparrowhawks and Badgers, not to mention a third of the country’s butterflies, the wild nature of the parkland has always been a magnet for serious photographers and those with smart phones.

Several of the photographers at Abington Camera Club have expressed an interest in presenting photography modules, both in the Barn and outdoors. They are offering their time free and a photographer who specialises in portrait work, has had over 300 images displayed at the Museum of Childhood which is part of the Victoria and Albert Museum. Other club members have experienced photographing wildlife in Africa and landscapes in Utah and Arizona. There is a wealth of experience available.

Northamptonshire Carers are looking to provide respite opportunities for “Young Carers” and the six educational modules will include, long-lens wildlife photography, macro photography, portrait work, microscopic imaging and aerial photography using a commercial quad copter for both video footage and still photography.

Funding is being sought to buy an off-road electric scooter that will enable young wheelchair users to access all areas of the park. This is just one initiative to make Bradlaugh Stone Barn a center for education, with special emphasis on the therapeutic value of spending time in green spaces.
